If you find yourself blessed with a surfeit of greenbacks and want to send a financial thank-you for the enrichment in your life I've provided by showing you pictures of cats lolling, than by all means use the donate button below. ![]() Friend these feeds and get the Spill stuff on your LJ! My Spill posts My Spill Video/picture posts The Spill Animated Reviews ![]() I am the maintainer of I'm originally from Fredericksburg Virginia. I went to school there or in nearby Stafford county until it was decided that I would do better in private schools, so I started attending Sandy Springs Friends School in Sandy Springs MD. That didn't work out to everyone's hopes and neither did an attempt at college in Richmond Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University. I knew for anything to change within myself, at the very least I would have to go far away from the known and my parent's refrigerator, so I moved in 1992 to Austin Texas. ![]() My tastes in alcohol are Hefeweizens, Belgian Ales, and Sierra Nevada products for beer and high end tequilas and bourbons for liquor. ![]() I love movies and talk about them pretty much incessantly. I'm not kidding here. Movies are my #1 hobby. And I like weird screwy movies that would scare you badly. I run the full gamut from bizarre Asian horror and chop-socky to Italian giallo to well, basically anything that is just strange enough to capture my interest. I don't believe that film has to be limited to focusing on character development and story to be a great film. Sure, commercially that's helpful but it doesn't mean film should be limited to expression of that sort. Such narrow mindedness that usually comes from otherwise brilliant people has been known to cause hissy fits from me. Lately, I haven't been able to help but admire television and what it has finally grown up to be. Shows like "Heroes", "Dexter","Battlestar Galactica", "Lost", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Firefly", etc etc.... TV has grown up and has some real quality going on these days. Accusations of "soap opera" for these great shows will do nothing but make me laugh at you for being an idiot. A continuing story does not a soap opera make. A total crap continuing story with barely any forethought involved does a soap opera make. Get it straight. I have been on an animated comedy round table movie review show spill.comThe Reel Deal is on probable permanent hiatus. You can still see all the clips we did at the old link. The new show Spill is a real paying gig (finally) with (arguably) funny animated reviews starring me and the rest of the old Reel Deal crew. My character's name is Cyrus. We all also write daily blogs on there so please, help an animated brother out and go check it, cross-promote it, link to it, make t-shirts, whatever.Rent locally not corporate. The things I write about that might piss you off involve anti-Bush and bushites, diatribes against variously: organized religion, dis-organized religion, new agey crap, and belief systems in general that have no real science behind them. I also occasionally post agaist bad radio pop music and those who adore it, bad Hollywood films and those who adore them, and of course just really stupid people in general. Not that stupid is an easy thing to immediately identify and not that I'm trying to be elitist here, but lets fact it people...we're not having a shortage of ignorance. Having said all that, I'm generally a really nice and polite person even with comments back and forth (except with my real life friends who know when I'm kidding). I'm not setting out to antagonize you, I'm not trolling your communities, so don't troll my page to tell me when you think I'm an asshole or just plain wrong. So if any of that's gonna bother you, you might want to stay off my page. I tend to post more links and spill cross-posted rants about film than personal updates but occasionally if you've been friended by me you might have to deal with me whining about something or other from my real life. If you friend me I will friend you back, generally speaking. Occasionally someone will friend me who didn't read enough of my page and is either a vociferous repub or writes TOO much about their addled belief systems. No offense, you have the right to believe whatever you want but reading those sorts of entries on my friends page starts to irritate me after awhile. I don't protect almost any of my entries so if you like having me on your page for the links and funny stuff, go ahead. Love you. Bye, bye. There's still nothing on the official wiki about spill.com because according to wikipedia's guideline's you're not allowed to write entries about yourself or your own projects. Apparently, no one else I know is a wiki editor. Jeez) "I'm afraid of sharks, but only in a water situation. If I saw a shark in the street, I'd say, 'What? Fuck you.' Kind of the opposite of how I feel about lions." -- Demetri Martin "People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them."-Dave Barry "Other than telling us how to live, think, marry, pray, vote, invest, educate our children and, now, die, I think the Republicans have done a fine job of getting government out of our personal lives."-? "The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently."-Friedrich Nietzsche "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."-Benjamin Franklin "Alcohol, the cause and solution to all of life's problems."-Homer Simpson "I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours." -- Stephen Roberts "We must respect the other fellow's religion, but only in the sense and to the extent that we respect his theory that his wife is beautiful and his children smart." -H. L. Mencken "Men never commit evil so fully and joyfuly as when they do it for religious convictions" -Blaise Pascal (1623-1662) "I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do because I notice it always coincides with their own desires."-Susan B Anthony "Question with boldness even the existence of God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear."-Thomas Jefferson "A human being is part of a whole, called by us the Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separated from the rest--a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."-Albert Einstein "To surrender to ignorance and call it God has always been premature, and it remains premature today."-Issac Asimov "Dont take no shit off fools. You judge a person by what's in 'em, not how they look. An' you do the right thing. You gotta be one of the good guys, son. 'Cause there's way too many of the bad."-John Custer, PREACHER "I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... ...and then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... You will someday."-American Beauty "The world is like a ride at an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time, and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey – don't worry, don't be afraid ever, because this is just a ride ...' And we ... kill those people. Ha ha, 'Shut him up. We have a lot invested in this ride. Shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry. Look at my big bank account and my family. This just has to be real.' It's just a ride. But we always kill those good guys who try and tell us that, you ever notice that? And let the demons run amok. But it doesn't matter, because – it's just a ride. And we can change it anytime we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money. A choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your doors, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one. Here's what we can do to change the world, right now, to a better ride. Take all that money we spend on weapons and defenses each year and instead, spend it feeding and clothing and educating the poor of the world, which it would pay for many times over, not one human being excluded, and we could explore space, together, both inner and outer, forever, in peace. Thank you very much, you've been great." [several gunshots ring out, Bill mimes being hit and falls to floor, motionless.] (Onstage closing comments of Hicks's Revelations special from 1993) "If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense. If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time."-Bertrand Russell “God does not play dice with the universe; He plays an ineffable game of His own devising, which might be compared, from the perspective of the players, (ie everybody), to being involved in an obscure and complex version of poker in a pitch-dark room, with blank cards, for infinite stakes, with a Dealer who won't tell you the rules, and who smiles all the time.”-Neil Gaiman “Things need not have happened to be true. Tales and adventures are the shadow truths that will endure when mere facts are dust and ashes and forgotten”-Neil Gaiman "Hope Is The Thing With Feathers" by Emily Dickinson Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul, And sings the tune without the words, And never stops at all, And sweetest in the gale is heard; And sore must be the storm That could abash the little bird That kept so many warm. I've heard it in the chilliest land, And on the strangest sea; Yet, never, in extremity It asked a crumb of me." ![]() Find me on MySpace and be my friend! That's my myspace for everybody.
